Appeal Frees Ex-Judge from Dnipro from Punishment

The Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court reduced the sentence from 3.5 to 2.5 years of imprisonment for former judge of the Zhovtnevy District Court of the city of Dnipro, Vadym Galichy, but released him from serving his sentence due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.
This was reported by the press service of the AC HACC, without specifying the name of the accused. However, according to media reports, it is Galichy.
As is known, Galich was found guilty of abuse of influence and sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison with a 3-year disqualification from holding positions in courts, law enforcement agencies, and the bar for 3 years. At the same time, the Appeals Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice reduced the sentence to 2.5 years in prison. The defense filed a cassation appeal against these decisions. The Supreme Court overturned the decision of the Appeals Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice and ordered a retrial of the appeal.
The Appeals Chamber then halted the hearing of Galichy's case due to his mobilization into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The court later resumed the hearing of the case because the defendant had resigned from the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Based on the results of the consideration, the panel of judges partially satisfied the appeal of the defense, changing the verdict of the Supreme Court of Cassation and mitigating the sentence imposed on the judge to 2 years and 6 months of imprisonment, exempting him from serving the unserved part of the main sentence in the form of 7 months and 21 days and an additional sentence in the form of deprivation of the right to hold certain positions for a period of 3 years on the basis of Art. 49, Part 5, Art. 74 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, with the term of its actual service included in the term of serving the main sentence. In the remaining part, the appeal of the defense was left unsatisfied, and the verdict of the Supreme Court of Cassation was left unchanged
Let us remind you that Vadym Galichiy is a figure in the EBK database.
We also wrote earlier that the Appeals Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice of Ukraine left in custody, but reduced the bail amount from UAH 20 million to UAH 10 million , set as an alternative for the judge of the Commercial Court of Lviv Region, Vasyl Artimovich.
