The former director of the "Lyman Forestry" from Donetsk region is suspected of abuse of office. Law enforcement officers believe that the company overpaid more than 1.6 million hryvnias for firewood, which was overpriced.

This was reported on the website of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.

According to the investigation, from December 2023 to February 2024, the forestry company concluded three contracts with the LLC for the purchase of three thousand cubic meters of wood for frontline communities in the Donetsk region. The agreement was concluded despite the fact that the state-owned enterprise from Lyman had sufficient wood reserves of its own, the prosecutor's office believes.

The director of the state-owned enterprise, knowing for sure that at the time of concluding the transactions, the cost of forest products, including delivery and unloading costs, significantly exceeded the average market price, signed the financial documents and instructed the accounting department to pay the bills. As a result, more than 1.6 million hryvnias of state funds were unjustifiably transferred to the supplier.

— the prosecutor's office explained.

The State Bureau of Investigation believes that the former head of the Lymansky Forestry Enterprise "concluded contracts in the interests of a commercial structure at inflated prices."

The man is suspected of abuse of office, which led to grave consequences, part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. If proven guilty, he faces up to six years in prison.
