Ex-forestry head to stand trial over overpayment

Prosecutors from the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office have sent an indictment to court against the former director of the state-owned enterprise "Lyman Forestry". He is suspected of abuse of office during the purchase of timber, which led to an overpayment of more than UAH 1.6 million in budget funds.
This was reported by the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
The investigation established that between December 2023 and February 2024, the Lyman Forestry State Enterprise concluded three contracts with another enterprise for the supply of 3,000 cubic meters of wood.
Prosecutors note that the purchase was carried out by the forestry enterprise despite the fact that the enterprise had sufficient own stocks of products to meet the needs of government bodies, local governments and the population, but continued to make purchases. "The director of the state-owned enterprise, knowing for sure that at the time of concluding the transactions, the cost of forest products, taking into account the costs of delivery and unloading, significantly exceeded the average market price, signed financial documents and gave instructions to the accounting department to pay the bills.
As a result, more than UAH 1.6 million of state funds were unjustifiably transferred to the supplier," the post says. Law enforcement officers stopped the illegal actions of the former employee. The pre-trial investigation and operational support were carried out by the territorial department of the State Bureau of Investigation in Kramatorsk with the assistance of the Department of Internal and Economic Security of the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine".
The indictment was filed under Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for abuse of official position, which resulted in grave consequences. The maximum penalty under this article is up to 6 years of imprisonment.
We will remind, the SAPO referred the case of the deputy ministers to court.
