Village head accused of bribe for land lease

In the Chortkiv district of the Ternopil region, the village head is suspected of receiving thousands of dollars in illegal benefits for assisting in obtaining a land plot.

Law enforcement officers detained an official at a catering establishment while he was receiving money.

It was established that a local businessman planned to mine clay and make bricks from it, having bought a complex of buildings and structures of a brick factory from another businessman. The village head, knowing that the lease agreement for the land plot under the brick factory had expired, promised the businessman for a thousand dollars to assist in concluding a new agreement

They decide on the issue of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention and removing him from office.

The sanction of Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code, under which the village head is suspected, provides for imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with confiscation of property.
