College head in Chernihiv region suspected in draft evasion scheme
Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation informed the president of one of the educational institutions in the Chernihiv region about suspicions of organizing fictitious employment of conscripted men of military age.
This is stated on the official website of the State Bureau of Investigation.
According to the investigation, the institution has hired almost 100 people as teaching staff, which is more than twice the number of students.
In fact, these people did not carry out any teaching activities. They were registered to create grounds for an unjustified deferment from conscription during mobilization as alleged teachers.
According to preliminary information, for fictitious employment it was necessary to pay from 4,000 US dollars. Later, formally registered men transferred from 20 to 30 thousand hryvnias every month to remain on the staff and maintain the deferral.
Among the people who were registered at the institution were IT specialists, entrepreneurs, lawyers, and others who were not related to educational activities.
The heads of the institution reported suspicion of obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Part 1, Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The sanction of the article provides for a penalty of up to eight years in prison.
They are preparing a petition to the court to impose a preventive measure on her.
