The Chinese ex-criminal was convicted of corruption and 58 lovers
Former Chinese high-ranking official Zhong Yang was sentenced to 13 years in prison for corruption and abuse of office. Zhong had 58 lovers, the South China Morning Post reports .
Zhong Yang, 52, served as governor and deputy party secretary of Qiannan Prefecture, located in Guizhou Province. She was also a member of the National People's Congress (NPC) and used her official privileges very actively. During her employment, Zhong accepted bribes totaling about 60 million yuan (approximately US$8.5 million) and engaged in sexual relations with male subordinates. The court sentenced her to prison and a fine of one million yuan (US$140,000).
According to the South China Morning Post, Zhong used her power to award lucrative contracts to companies whose executives she had a close relationship with. One such case is the approval of the development of 170,000 square meters of land in an industrial zone for a businessman with whom she had an affair.
It is known that Zhong started numerous affairs under the pretext of "overtime work" and "business trips".
Some subordinates, as the journalists claim, entered into relationships with her because of fear of her influence, and others because of the benefits she offered.
