The commander of the military unit was charged with corruption

Corruption in the army: the commander of the military unit was informed of the suspicion.

The commander of one of the military units in the Dnipropetrovsk region and the head of a private enterprise organized the purchase of poor-quality clothing for servicemen worth UAH 200 million.

Both of them have already been notified of the suspicion - they face imprisonment.

This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI). It was noted there:

the head of the unit entered into an agreement on the purchase of military clothing with a private enterprise, which, as the examination testified, engaged in the resale of low-quality products;

without checking this, the commander signed the contract without tender with an advance payment of 30% of the total contract value.

After the advance payment, the military unit received only a part of high-quality clothing, and clothing worth almost UAH 150 million was delivered, which did not meet any quality standards and exposed the defenders to danger. The management of the unit, understanding the risks, signed the necessary documents and made full payment for the low-quality product

At the same time, it is emphasized: during the searches, cash was seized from the soldier and the businessman. Besides:

The commander was informed of the suspicion of "negligent attitude to service, if it caused serious consequences, committed under martial law or in a combat environment" (Part 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) - he faces up to 8 years of imprisonment.

The director of a private enterprise is suspected of fraud committed during martial law, on a particularly large scale (Part 5 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to 12 years.
