The customs officer and the carrier are accused of importing goods worth UAH 15 million
An official of the Lviv customs office and a carrier are accused of a scheme involving the illegal import of goods worth UAH 15 million
NABU and SAP informed about the suspicion of an official of the Lviv Customs and a citizen of Ukraine due to abuses related to the illegal movement of goods outside customs control in the amount of more than UAH 15 million.
This is reported by the press services of anti-corruption bodies.
As the investigators found out, in April 2023, a customs official helped a citizen of Ukraine to transport a large number of mobile phones, headphones, tablets, laptops and monoblocks on a truck through the international checkpoint "Ugryniv-Dolgobychuv" without paying customs duties. According to the media, Pavlo Kostyshyn was driving the car.
The customs officer entered false information into the automated "Inspector" system, noting that the vehicle was empty, which made it possible to import goods without paying customs fees.
However, law enforcement officers discovered violations, and the goods that did not clear customs were seized and handed over to the National Asset Management Agency. Subsequently, the confiscated items were sold, which made it possible to reimburse the unpaid customs duties
The customs official is suspected of abuse of office and official forgery (Part 2 of Article 364, Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), and the carrier is suspected of tax evasion (Part 3 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The pre-trial investigation continues, law enforcement officers are working to identify other persons involved in this case.
