Head of Yavoriv Education Dept. Caught Taking ₴800K Bribe
Police officers detained Volodymyr Bayda, the head of the education department of the Yavoriv City Council in the Lviv region, on suspicion of bribery. For a bribe of 800 thousand UAH, the official promised entrepreneurs to ensure victory in the tender. According to law enforcement officers, the head of the education department Volodymyr Bayda demanded a kickback from the business entity for providing an advantage in determining the winner of the tender and concluding contracts. The matter involved the purchase of office supplies.
According to media reports, the head of the education department was detained in the red in his office on the evening of January 9. The bribe was seized by law enforcement officers. On January 10, the court was to choose a preventive measure for the detainee.
Volodymyr Bayda, 45, has been the head of the education department of the Yavoriv City Council since 2020, previously headed the education department of the Yavoriv Regional State Administration. In the last local elections, he ran for the Lviv Regional Council from the Batkivshchyna party, but did not pass.
