Border Guard in Lviv Region Exposed for Bribe Demand

In the Lviv region, an official of the border service demanded a bribe from a man who wanted to get a job at a canine training center. For the money, the border guard guaranteed him military service under a contract in the rear, not in the combat zone.

As indicated in the decision of the Galician District Court of Lviv, in March 2024, the border guard was appointed to the position of deputy head of the department of training and retraining of inspectors by order of the head of the canine training center. In October, an unemployed man, on the advice of an acquaintance, turned to the official and said that he wanted to get a job at a dog training center. He asked for advice on preparing documents for military service under a contract with the State Border Service.

The border guard told the man that he had to be paid money if he wanted to enter the service and not go to the war zone. It is known that after this statement, the man turned to the law enforcement officers and acted under their control.

Later, on October 25, the man transferred UAH 14,000 to the card to the border guard, and on November 1, he personally transferred another $3,500. After receiving the second part of the bribe, the official was detained and a criminal case was initiated under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code. Currently, the court has already chosen a preventive measure for the border guard - detention with the possibility of release under 181,000 hryvnias bail. The investigation in this case continues.
