Ternopil Emergency Service Official Faces Bribery Trial

The head of one of the units of the State Emergency Service in the Ternopil region will go on trial. She is accused of extorting and receiving a bribe from a conscript to have him removed from the wanted list.
This was reported on August 19 on the website of the Ternopil Regional Prosecutor's Office.
According to the investigation, in January of this year, she demanded and received $1,500 from a Ternopil military conscript friend for influencing employees of the Ternopil District TCP and the Joint Venture. For this money, the woman promised to help remove him from the wanted list in the "Oberig" system.
They noted that the official is being charged under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment from three to eight years with confiscation of property.
The court chose a preventive measure for the accused in the form of bail in the amount of over 266 thousand hryvnias, and also imposed an arrest on her funds in the amount of 2300 US dollars for confiscation. Separate proceedings regarding possible abuses in the TCP were sent to the Ternopil District Administration under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense. The investigation was carried out by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Ternopil region
