NABU and SAP Charge Ex-MIA State Secretary with $16M Embezzlement image

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office reported suspicions to a former high-ranking official of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

This was reported by the press service of the SAPO in Telegram.

According to Slovo i Dilo, the case concerns former state secretary of the ministry, Oleksiy Takhtai. Law enforcement officers exposed him for misappropriating millions of dollars and receiving illegal benefits.

It is alleged that in 2020, the official ensured that a predetermined company won a tender for the purchase of video surveillance and access control equipment to be installed in the buildings of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

The cost of the equipment was significantly overstated, which resulted in damage to the state in the amount of UAH 16 million.

According to law enforcement officials, before that, during 2018-2019, the company's head transferred four premium cars worth over UAH 6 million to Takhtay for free use through a public organization.

The actions of the former Ministry of Internal Affairs official are qualified under Part 5 of Article 191, Part 3 of Article
