Policeman suspected of $3,000 bribe in Zaporizhzhia

A law enforcement officer was exposed in Zaporizhia who demanded a bribe of 3,000 US dollars for the closure of criminal proceedings. This was reported by the Zaporizhia Regional Prosecutor's Office.
A police officer from one of the territorial divisions of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Zaporizhia region was reported on suspicion of extorting and receiving unlawful benefits for influencing a decision-making process by a person authorized to perform state functions (Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that the law enforcement officer demanded $3,000 from a local resident for influencing the decision to close the criminal case opened on the fact of evading military service during mobilization (Article 336 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The suspect convinced the man that he had friendly relations with the investigator conducting the pre-trial investigation, and for a monetary reward he would be able to influence the adoption of the "necessary" decision.
The court has currently chosen a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention with the alternative of posting bail.
