Lviv University colonel fined for bribery

The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Lviv sentenced Colonel Oleg Stokalyuk, Deputy Head of the Institute for Educational and Social-Psychological Work of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Civil Defense of the Lviv University of the State Railways, who demanded a bribe of UAH 30,000. The court imposed a fine of UAH 93,500 on him.
As indicated in the case materials, in 2023, Oleg Stokalyuk received part of a bribe from a representative of Tandem Riel LLC - UAH 15,000 for influencing the decision of officials of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region to register a declaration of compliance with fire safety requirements for a non-residential premises in Gorodok. The company planned to store construction materials there.
At the next meeting, the colonel handed the company representative the corresponding declaration. In return, the company representative gave him the second part of the bribe through the cadet. Then the police detained him.
In court, Oleg Stokalyuk partially admitted his guilt. He claims that he did not demand a bribe – the representative of Tandem Riel LLC gave him the money voluntarily. However, the man who gave him the bribe denied this.
Taking into account the circumstances of the case, Judge Halyna Bilinska found Oleg Stokalyuk guilty under Part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and imposed a fine of UAH 93.5 thousand. This verdict can be appealed.
