One of the defendants in the Trukhanov case has died

We are talking about the former director of the municipal property department of the Odesa City Council, Oleksiy Spektor. The previous cause of death is heart failure. The specialized anti-corruption prosecutor's office wanted to close the case against him, but Spektor's wife asked to hear the case further to rehabilitate the name of the deceased, HACC reports.

At the same time, Spector's preventive measure in the form of UAH 1.3 million bail was canceled. The case will be heard further.

On June 14, 2018, the court released Oleksiy Spektor , the director of the Municipal Property Department of the Odessa City Council, who was suspected by NABU detectives of involvement in the embezzlement of 185 million hryvnias from the Odesa budget , on a personal bond.

16 people are suspected in the "Odesa case". Investigators established that during 2016-2019, the criminal group developed a scheme to appropriate money from the local budget and land plots for their further development. Plots were handed over to their developers bypassing tenders, and city hall officials received either money or apartments in return.

These citizens are suspected of illegal activities (withdrawal of budget funds, communal property and land), as a result of which the community and the state suffered losses in the amount of UAH 689 million. 

In 2021, Oleksiy Spektor was dismissed from the post of director of the Department of Communal Property.
