Infrastructure Service official suspected of embezzlement
In Bukovina, an official of the Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service is suspected of embezzling UAH 2.5 million.
This concerns the construction of a bridge across the Prut River on the Novoselytsia - Hertsa - Dyakivtsi checkpoint road, which was implemented within the framework of the state program "Large Construction". In 2020, the Highway Service concluded a contract with a contracting organization for the performance of works with a total cost of over UAH 171 million.
During the construction process, changes were made to the project, in particular, special individual formwork was manufactured with state money. After the work was completed, the contractor was supposed to return these materials to the state or compensate for their cost. Instead, the formwork was registered as scrap metal, and the real cost was not reimbursed.
The corresponding acts of performed works with an overpayment of over UAH 2.5 million were signed by the deputy head of the Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service in Chernivtsi region. He was informed of suspicion of abuse of office, which led to serious consequences (Part 2, Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Previously, the Prosecutor General's Office reported suspicions to three participants in a scheme to illegally seize electricity from PJSC NPC Ukrenergo in the amount of over UAH 168 million.
In addition, the SSU, together with the National Police, exposed the beneficiary and three former heads of companies providing heat generation and heat supply services in Ivano-Frankivsk for millions of UAH in abuses. During the two heating seasons of 2021-2023, officials artificially inflated heat prices, thus misappropriating over UAH 71 million .
