An official from Dnipro is suspected of embezzling UAH 1.8 million

The deputy director of one of the communal enterprises of the Dnipro City Council is suspected of embezzling 1.8 million hryvnias during the purchase of communication equipment for the implementation of the "Program for the Promotion of Territorial Defense of the City of Dnipro 2022-2026", namely Starlinks.

The investigation established that the official, abusing his official position, deliberately ensured the purchase of equipment at inflated prices, which led to significant losses for the urban territorial community.

During the investigation, the law enforcement officers conducted 21 authorized searches, as a result of which documents, notebooks with draft notes, mobile phones and computer equipment were seized.

The official was charged with embezzlement of budget funds by abuse of official position under martial law, which qualifies as a particularly large amount (Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Currently, the issue of selecting him as a preventive measure in the form of detention is being resolved. The investigation into the involvement of other persons in this crime is also ongoing.
