Head of the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology at the Lviv University of Internal Affairs, Professor Iryna Gazdaika-Vasilyshyn, during an interview at the Higher Qualification Commission for the position of judge of the Lviv Court of Appeal, said that she bought a number of properties thanks to an inheritance from her grandmother. She, in turn, allegedly received $26,000 from relatives in Australia. This was noted by the website Bihus.info.

Members of the Supreme Judicial Council drew attention to the fact that in her declaration for the position of judge, Iryna Gazdaika-Vasilyshyn indicated cryptocurrency, an apartment in Dublyany worth over UAH 2 million purchased in 2024, and other property. She indicated that she took the money to purchase this property from an inheritance from her grandmother, who died in 2002. However, members of the Supreme Judicial Council drew attention to the fact that officially such an inheritance does not exist.

I inherited $26,000 from my grandmother. My grandmother on my father's side died suddenly in March 2002. When my mother and I were sorting through her things, we found this significant amount of money. At first we were puzzled, for a long time we could not understand where she got it from, and then we remembered that after the collapse of the Soviet Union, our relatives from Australia had repeatedly visited my grandmother. We also remembered a conversation about how someone from my grandmother's family had died and left a large house as an inheritance, which was immediately sold after the inheritance. Then we decided that this money was probably part of the proceeds from that sale and transferred by my Australian relatives to my grandmother.

– was stated in the explanations of Iryna Gazdaika-Vasilyshyn. She did not provide any confirmation of this.

The Public Integrity Council also issued a conclusion that the candidate does not meet the criteria of integrity and professional ethics. The Public Integrity Council also drew attention to the dubious source of the candidate's money, as there are no documents confirming the inheritance of $26,000.

In 2017, Iryna Gazdaika-Vasilyshyn became the owner of a 2011 Peugeot 308CC car worth UAH 162,000. She explained that she bought the car to save money, but the cost of the car, which the professor indicated in the declaration, is significantly lower than similar brands on the profile website Avtoria.

The Public Integrity Council also drew attention to the fact that the candidate defended her dissertation in 2011, and in 2012 published a monograph with a similar text, which indicates self-plagiarism.

In 2023, the professor divorced Ivan Vasylyshyn and did not indicate information about his property and income in the declaration. When she participated in the competition for the position of a member of the High Qualification Commission of Judges, members of the HQCJ drew attention to the fact that her husband's declared assets did not match his official income.

As a reminder, we reported that the former deputy mayor of Chernihiv region declared suspicion.

It also became known earlier that journalists found Mindich in Israel.
