In Transcarpathia, law enforcement officers uncovered a scheme at the East European Slavic University. Officials of a private university fictitiously took conscripted men to study for bribes. The status of "getting an education" with a deferment from mobilization cost the evaders about 1.5 euros.
The Zakarpattia Regional Prosecutor's Office reported on the detention of the rector, the former vice-rector of a private university and an employee of the military service of law and order on October 15. According to ZAXID.NET sources in law enforcement agencies, it is about a scheme at the Eastern European Slavic University in Uzhgorod, which is headed by Lyudmila Nesuch.
The suspects set up a scheme for conscripts to receive a deferment from the draft under the guise of studying at a university. For bribes, men without entrance exams were admitted to undergraduate and postgraduate courses at their own and foreign universities. On the basis of this, fictitious students were promised to solve the issue of obtaining a deferral.
"Depending on the circumstances, the participants estimated the package of such "services" at approximately EUR 1,500 per person. According to the operative data of the investigation, more than two hundred people managed to use this scheme," the prosecutor's office said. During 14 searches of administrative buildings, residences and cars of the suspects, more than 4.5 million UAH in cash (47 thousand dollars, 46 thousand euros and 440 thousand UAH) were seized. The law enforcement officers also found draft records with the data of the participants of the scheme, mobile phones and other equipment.
The rector, the former vice-rector of a private university and an employee of the VSP were arrested with the possibility of posting bail in the total amount of over UAH 3 million. For what they have committed, they face up to 8 years in prison.
