SAPO Seeks to Suspend Kyrylenko from AMCU Post

The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office requests that the accused Pavlo Kyrylenko be removed from the position of Chairman of the Antimonopoly Committee so that he cannot influence a judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court.
Currently, the position of head of the AMCU is held by Kyrylenko, whose case is being heard at the HACC.
After the indictment was sent to the court, the defense attempted to remove the judge of the HACC from considering this case on the grounds of the possibility of the accused influencing her through the exercise of his powers as the head of the AMCU. Thus, the defense attorney of the official indicated in the application for recusal that he could make decisions, including negative ones, regarding the enterprise where a member of the judge's family is employed. The accused supported this application. In order to prevent the unlawful behavior of the accused, who during the consideration of the application for recusal personally confirmed the possibility of using his position to influence the participants in the criminal proceedings through their relatives, as well as to obstruct the criminal proceedings in other ways, the SAPO prosecutor applied to the court with a corresponding motion
The SAPO added that during the pre-trial investigation, prosecutors did not apply to the investigating judge with such a request, since the official did not make any attempts to use his position to obstruct the pre-trial investigation.
Pavlo Kyrylenko is a suspect in the EBK database.
We also previously reported that investigators have completed the investigation into Pavlo Kyrylenko. He is suspected of failing to declare 20 real estate properties and a BMW X3 registered to his wife's relatives.
