The court upheld the absentee arrest of adviser Nasirov
The Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) upheld the decision to arrest Roman Nasirov in absentia, former adviser to the ex-head of the State Fiscal Service. He is suspected in the case of legalization of illegal profit.
On September 19, the court rejected the defense attorney's appeal against the decision on detention, adopted on July 10, 2024. As "Slovo i Dilo" reports, the Court of Appeal decided to leave this decision unchanged.
The NABU and SAP are investigating the case of ex-adviser Nasirov. According to the investigation, real estate developer Oleksandr Glimbovskyi, Nasirov's father-in-law, helped legalize 13 million euros, which the former head of the Federal Tax Service allegedly received from oligarch Oleg Bakhmatyuk for assisting in extraordinary VAT refunds to the oligarch's companies. The funds received were used to purchase the residential and office complex "Metropol" in the center of Kyiv, which continued to be built and to receive additional income.
At the end of 2023, NABU and SAP managed to seize 81 real estate objects and more than UAH 30 million, which the owner of a group of construction companies acquired thanks to legalized funds.
In addition, Nasirova's adviser legalized another 7.9 million euros in the accounts of the controlled offshore company, of which 5.5 million dollars were laundered through an agency contract in 2017, and the rest as payment under sales contracts in 2018.
