In Ivano-Frankivsk, the former head of the international police cooperation sector of the police in the region was sentenced to six years in prison for bribery.

This is stated in the verdict of the Ivano-Frankivsk city court.

The accused offered for $8,000 to provide a positive recommendation regarding immigration and the issuance of a residence permit to a citizen of the Republic of Belarus who came to Ukraine with his wife in 2021.

Belarus asked to reduce the size of the bribe due to the lack of stable earnings, financial situation and poor health. On December 9, 2021, during a personal meeting, the police major agreed to prepare the documents on the condition that he be given 5 thousand dollars

From December 21, 2021 to January 22, 2022, a police officer called a citizen of Belarus and wrote WhatsApp messages with threats and demands for the fastest possible transfer of money. After that, the foreigner decided to turn to the Territorial Department of the SBI in Lviv.

The police major was detained while receiving the entire amount on January 22, 2022, initiated by Belarus under the control of investigators. He was accused of 3 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Earlier it became known that the Higher Anti-Corruption Court seized the real estate of the Deputy Chief of the Main Directorate of the Kyiv National Police, Taras Polienko, as part of a civil suit for confiscation of property filed by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
