Kharkiv University Lecturer Fined for $600 Bribe

In Kharkiv, an associate professor was fined for assuring a master's student that he would not defend his diploma himself, and taking $600 for "help."
This became known from the verdict of the Kyiv District Court of Kharkiv, published on September 24, 2026. According to the investigation, in the fall of 2025, a second-year master's student at the KhNADU asked an associate professor to help with writing and defending his diploma.
The student was studying Entrepreneurship, Trade and Stock Exchange Activities. The teacher convinced the master's student that he would not write a quality diploma for the National Automobile and Road University on his own, and asked for 600 US dollars for his successful defense, the verdict states.
The student contacted law enforcement, so the transfer of money was carried out under the supervision of employees of the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police.
On October 24, 2025, at about 3:45 p.m., the accused, while at 25 Yaroslav Mudryi Street, received $600 from a student.
One $100 bill was genuine, the other five were counterfeit. Within five minutes, investigators arrested the teacher on the spot and seized the money and cell phone.
