UAH 40 million bail posted for Basov in “Midas” case

Dmytro Basov, a defendant in a large-scale corruption scheme at Energoatom, has been released from pretrial detention on bail of 40 million hryvnias. The money was paid by a newly established Kyiv company and his lawyers.
This is reported by "Schemes" with reference to sources in law enforcement agencies.
It is indicated that the bail for Basov was paid on December 25. In particular, 25 million hryvnias was paid by the private company "Green Plus Company", which was registered in Kyiv for two months. The authorized capital of the company is 75 thousand hryvnias. The main profile of its activity is wholesale trade in wood, building materials and sanitary equipment.
A woman who did not want to give her name answered the company's number listed in official registers. She said she was unfamiliar with the company or its management. The director of Green Plus Company, Maryna Shevchenko, herself repeatedly rejected journalists' calls to her personal number.
Another 10 million 300 thousand hryvnias of bail was paid by Dmytro Basov's own lawyer, Vitaliy Naum. Another 4 million 700 thousand hryvnias was paid by the bar association "National Bar Association", which Naum himself heads.
In a comment to "Schemes", Basov's defense lawyer confirmed the fact that he personally and the bar association paid bail and called it "common practice."
All the confirmations are there, all the relevant documents were provided to the bank. The bank checked the origin of the funds, confirmed it. These are our personal funds from the profits, after paying taxes, we work "in the white". And that's it. We wanted Dmytro Mykolayovych to celebrate Christmas with his family, and that's what happened, yesterday he left
He added that he has known Basov for a long time and is confident that he "will not escape," noting that the bar association acted as a guarantor before the pre-trial investigation body, and later before the court.
After leaving the pre-trial detention center, he is required to wear an electronic bracelet. In addition, he has been given a number of personal obligations for a period of two months.
As a reminder, on the morning of November 10, NABU and SAPO conducted searches at the home of President Zelenskyy's former business partner and co-owner of the Kvartal 95 studio, Timur Mindich, as well as at the home of Justice Minister Herman Galushchenko, who previously headed the Ministry of Energy.
Subsequently, the anti-corruption authorities reported on a large-scale operation in the energy sector. They said that the criminal organization had built a scheme to systematically obtain illegal benefits from counterparties of JSC NNEGC Energoatom in the amount of 10% to 15% of the value of contracts. The scheme involved, in particular, the former deputy head of the State Property Fund, who later became an advisor to the Minister of Energy, as well as a former law enforcement officer.
