In Zhytomyr, 4.4 million UAH were seized from a doctor for forging an MRI
In Zhytomyr, during the investigation of the activities of a group of doctors who helped conscripts to receive fictitious disability groups, law enforcement officers seized more than 4.4 million hryvnias from a doctor who issued fake magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) results. According to the police, a 56-year-old female doctor of one of the local diagnostic centers was preparing fake medical documents for men of military age.
According to the investigation, during the last few years, a number of conscripted men did not undergo MRI examinations, but their medical records contained relevant findings. These documents, prepared by the doctor, became the basis for determining the diseases that lead to disability.
During the searches conducted by law enforcement officers at the suspect's place of residence, 80 thousand dollars, more than 23 thousand euros, as well as several hard drives, optical media, a laptop, a mobile phone and other potential evidence of illegal activities were seized.
The case was classified under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an illegal benefit by an official). The doctor faces from 5 to 10 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years, as well as confiscation of property.
