HACC continued duties for Klochka

HACC continued the duties of People's Deputy Klochka, who is suspected of illegal enrichment

The higher anti-corruption court extended until November 6 the deadline for the performance of a number of duties assigned to Andrii Klochka, a People's Deputy from the "Servant of the People" faction, whom NABU and SAP suspect of illegal enrichment.

Previously, the court imposed a preventive measure on Klochka in the form of bail in the amount of 12 million hryvnias and obliged him to comply with a number of conditions: to appear when summoned by the investigation, not to leave the borders of Kyiv without permission, to inform about a change of place of residence or work, to avoid contact with witnesses in the case, as well as to deposit foreign passports. Later, the court canceled restrictions on travel outside the capital, but left other obligations in effect.

The SAP prosecutor appealed to the court to extend these duties, which was granted.

On September 7, 2021, Bihus.info journalists published an investigation into the luxurious life of Andrii Klochka and his mother. According to him, the 70-year-old mother of the People's Deputy from "Servant of the People" within two years became the owner of two apartments in Kyiv, a house, land plots and a car with a total value of about UAH 14.5 million. The purchases coincided with the start of Klochka's work in the Verkhovna Rada.

In particular, in August 2021, Nataliya Klochko purchased two apartments in the "Riviera" residential complex and a non-residential premises with a total cost of about UAH 9.5 million. Earlier, in April 2021, she bought a house in the village of Peremoga near Brovary for UAH 1.8 million. In 2020, the woman became the owner of 24 acres of land in a cottage town near Kyiv worth about 2 million UAH. In addition, she purchased a 2016 Tesla Model X car worth from UAH 1.2 million.

Klochko has denied his involvement in financing his mother's estate, claiming that his sister provided assistance. After that, the SAP opened criminal proceedings under Art. 368-5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal enrichment).
