HACC to Hear Case of Former Odesa Prosecutor by Judicial Panel image

The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court will hear the case of former Odessa Oblast Prosecutor Oleg Zhuchenko, who is accused of abuse and obtaining illegal benefits, as well as using a forged document, as a panel of three judges.

The motion for a collegial examination of the criminal proceedings shall be granted. The criminal proceedings shall be conducted in the court of first instance by a collegial court consisting of three judges.

As a reminder, NABU and SAPO suspected 16 people of creating a criminal organization and embezzling UAH 689 million in Odessa. The suspicion was reported to: the head of the criminal organization Volodymyr Galanternyk (in absentia, because he is not in Ukraine); Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov; the head of the permanent commission on communal property of the Odessa City Council Vasyl Shkryabay; the head of the legal department of the ODR Inna Popovska; the director of the communal property department of the ODR Oleksiy Spektor and his deputy Volodymyr Radionov; the acting deputy mayor of Odessa Oleh Bryndak (former acting mayor of Odessa in 2013-2014, former head of the ODR land commission) and three more persons who were responsible for the functions of financial control, legal support and coordination of actions between the participants of the criminal organization.

Suspicion was also served on six more persons (accomplices), in particular, Trukhanov's deputy; the former head of one of the communal enterprises; the former prosecutor of the Odessa region, Oleg Zhuchenko; the owners of the construction company "Budova" and its top managers. Their actions are qualified under Part 1 of Article 255, Part 4 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 364, Part 5 of Article 191, Part 3 of Article 209, Part 4 of Article 368, Part 3 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

We also wrote earlier that the SAPO prosecutor sent an indictment to the court against members of a criminal organization operating in the Odessa City Hall . The defendants include the city mayor, top officials, and a scandalous businessman. According to the investigation, they contributed to the illegal appropriation of community lands.
