Deputy Head of Rivne Regional Council to Stand Trial for Bribery

NABU and SAPO have sent a case to court against the deputy head of the Rivne Regional Council, who is accused of receiving illegal benefits from a private entrepreneur for assistance in resolving land and property issues.
Law enforcement officials are not naming the official. However, according to media sources, it is Serhiy Svystaliuk.
The investigation established that at the end of 2021, an entrepreneur purchased a children's sanatorium through an electronic auction that was not operating and was previously in municipal ownership.
Serhiy Svystaliuk is a suspect in the EBK database.
The deputy chairman of the regional council, having learned that the new owner also plans to receive the sanatorium property and the land plot, promised to help. It was about the write-off of the property and the adoption of a decision by the deputies of the Rivne regional council on the sale of a land plot with an area of 5.4 hectares.
For such assistance, the official received an illegal benefit from the entrepreneur in the amount of almost half a million hryvnias in 2022–2023.
On May 31, 2024, he was charged with suspicion under Part 3 of Article 369-2 and Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The investigation into the case was completed in August 2024. The suspect himself denied any involvement in the incident and claimed that the detention had been violated.
Earlier, the High Anti-Corruption Court imposed a preventive measure on the former chief of the communications troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Volodymyr Rapko .
