Zelensky says he hasn’t spoken to Mindich since probe began
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he had not spoken to his former business partner, co-owner of Kvartal-95, Timur Mindich, since the announcement of the investigation into the corruption case of embezzlement at Energoatom.
"This investigation involves businessmen and some government officials. First of all, ministers bear political responsibility, and then, depending on the results of the investigation and court decisions, other responsibilities," Zelenskyy said.
The Head of State also emphasized that he does not interfere in the activities of law enforcement officers and ensures the independence of anti-corruption bodies.
As President, I must ensure that anti-corruption agencies have full authority, and I do not influence them. Everyone must be equally accountable to the law.
As a reminder, on the morning of November 10, NABU and SAPO conducted searches at the home of President Zelenskyy's former business partner and co-owner of the Kvartal 95 studio, Timur Mindich, as well as at the home of Justice Minister Herman Galushchenko, who previously headed the Ministry of Energy.
Later, the anti-corruption authorities reported a large-scale operation in the energy sector. They said that the criminal organization had built a scheme to systematically obtain illegal benefits from counterparties of JSC NNEGC Energoatom in the amount of 10% to 15% of the value of contracts. The scheme involved, in particular, the former deputy head of the State Property Fund, who later became an advisor to the Minister of Energy, as well as a former law enforcement officer. In addition, NABU announced suspicion against former Deputy Prime Minister Chernyshov.
