The plot of the case: in August 2023, the head of the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection in the Lviv region and the head of one of the departments of this institution were exposed for bribery - they offered a police officer two thousand dollars each month for not responding to violations in the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection.
Interestingly, the detention took place at the Lviv Regional Clinical Hospital. In the photos released by the prosecutor's office, one can easily recognize the hospital's administrative building, located on Rufa Street.
A video posted by local news website LMN shows the office of Mykhailo Hychka, general director of the ENT Department of the Lviv Regional Clinical Hospital. In the video, Yevhen Barkyt is sitting at a table with Mykhailo Hychka and several other people.
According to the publication, the arrest took place during this feast.
According to the investigation, officials of the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection offered to pay a law enforcement officer $2,000 per month. In exchange, the police officers were to refrain from responding to administrative and criminal offenses committed by employees of the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection.
After being offered a bribe, the police officer filed a complaint with law enforcement agencies and continued to act under their supervision.
In total, the fact of providing an improper benefit totaling $4,000 was documented.
As of December 2024, criminal proceedings against Yevhen Barkyt and Teodoziy Denisyak for passing bribes to an official (Part 3 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) are pending in court, with the next hearing scheduled for January 22, 2025.
It is also known that as of December 2024, Barkyt works as the head of the Lviv District Department of the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection.
Yevhen Barkyt himself told Zaxid.net that he transferred to the new position, which he has held for about a month, "of his own free will."

Assets: as indicated in the official's declaration, Yevhen Barkyt declared UAH 319,000 in salary to the State Service for the Supervision of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection of Lviv Region and UAH 1.7 million in income from the alienation of real estate in 2023. Yevhen Barkyt owns an apartment in Lviv (27.7 m2), a land plot (0.1 ha) and unfinished construction of a house in Pustomyty, in 2023 he became a co-owner of a residential building (283.9 m2) and a plot in Navaria.
The official's wife has owned a plot of land in the neighboring village of Porshna since 2018.
The head of the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection of Lviv Region does not have his own car, but Nataliya Barkyt is the owner of a 2016 Toyota RAV4 (the declaration indicates that she purchased the car for UAH 40,000), in 2021 she also purchased a 2019 Audi Q7 for UAH 350,000.
Persons who should have reacted: in the case of Barkyt, law enforcement officers reacted in a timely manner, however, he is at large.
