Status: On June 17, 2024, the High Anti-Corruption Court extended until August 17 the term of office of the former head of the legal department of BC KBR LLC, Manik Barseghyan. NABU and SAP suspect her of involvement in the overpayment of almost UAH 100 million for the completion of the construction of the Centralized Storage of Spent Nuclear Fuel.
The anti-corruption court imposed a preventive measure on Mykola Bozhka, the general director of the separate division "Atomproektengineering" of the state-owned enterprise NAEK "Energoatom" in the form of a bond in the amount of UAH 7 million.
The plot of the case: After July 19, 2024, the specialized anti-corruption prosecutor's office will refer the case to court on the suspicion of Mykola Bozhka, the general director of the separate division "Atomproektengineering" of the state-owned enterprise NAEC "Energoatom" and others, of causing UAH 100 million in damages to NAEC "Energoatom" on the construction of the Centralized Storage of Spent Nuclear fuel
NABU and SAP reported the suspicion to Mykola Bozhko, the general director of the separate division "Atomproektengineering" of NAEC "Energoatom" and four others involved in the case. According to the investigation, in December 2020, a contract for the completion of the construction of the Centralized Storage of Spent Nuclear Fuel was concluded between the State Enterprise "Atomproektengineering" and a predetermined private company bypassing open tenders.
In order to take over the funds of SE "Energoatom" NAEC with additional agreements, the suspects tripled the price of the contract - from UAH 421 million to UAH 1.497 billion, in particular by adding to its conditions the supply of equipment for the radiation control system. This equipment was purchased by the contractor company at market value, and then in 2021, it was sold by SE "NAEK Energoatom" at a much higher price. As a result of these actions, SE NAEK "Energoatom" overpaid almost UAH 100 million.
