Case story: On January 24, 2026, the Zacarpathian Regional Prosecutor's Office reported suspicions against a deputy of the Beregov District Council for lying in a declaration for UAH 8.3 million.
The deputy of the district council did not indicate in his 2022 declaration the Ford Mustang car, which he used with his wife, a multi-million-dollar income, as well as financial transactions from the purchase and sale of a Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The deputy purchased this car in October 2022 for UAH 3.75 million, although his confirmed income for more than 20 years of entrepreneurial activity amounted to less than UAH 227 thousand.
According to the investigation, within a few days the deputy sold the Mercedes and used the money for his own needs. These transactions, as well as the income from the sale of the car, were not included in the declaration.
The deputy's actions are qualified as intentional inclusion by the subject of declaration of knowingly false information in the person's declaration, as well as legalization (laundering) of property obtained by criminal means (Part 1 of Article 209, Part 2 of Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The prosecutor's office also released a photo of the deputy being served with the indictment in his luxurious home. The photo shows a large amount of gilding, decorative elements imitating the Baroque style, massive furniture, and a balustrade.
The prosecutor's office is not disclosing the suspect's name, but according to information from the deputy of the Zacarpathian Regional Council, Vitaliy Glagola, it is 41-year-old Arseniy Bohar, a deputy of the Beregov District Council from the "Servant of the People" party. According to Glagola, Arseniy Bohar's cars are a 2017 Ford Mustang and a 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
On January 28, the court chose a preventive measure for Arseniy Bohar, a deputy of the Beregov district council, who is accused of lying in a declaration of 8.3 million UAH. He will be able to be released from custody if he posts 266 thousand UAH of bail.
As reported by the Zacarpathian Regional Prosecutor's Office, the deputy was taken into custody in the courtroom.
At the same time, the prosecutor's office will appeal the alternative preventive measure in the form of a bail of UAH 266,000, set by the investigating judge. According to the prosecution, the amount of the bail does not correspond to the suspect's financial situation and will not be able to cover the existing risks, in particular, the possibility of him hiding from the pre-trial investigation bodies, influencing witnesses or obstructing criminal proceedings in any other way
Persons potentially involved in corruption schemes: open sources do not provide information about potential accomplices.
Assets: in his 2024 tax declaration, Arseniy Bohar indicated that he has no real estate and drives a 2008 VAZ.
His wife owns 4 plots of land, a house and an apartment, and another residential building is registered in his son's name.
Oksana Bohar also indicated that she has jewelry worth UAH 4.5 million.
The deputy declared 180 thousand dollars, 45 thousand euros, and 1.3 million UAH in cash.
Persons who should have reacted: law enforcement agencies responded to Bohar's criminal activities in a timely manner, charging him with suspicion.
Scandals: in July 2021, David Bohar hosted the scandalous People's Deputy Mykola Tyshchenko in his luxurious house in the village of Pidvynohradiv, Vynohradiv District.
