Case story: in February 2026, it became known that the police, together with the SBU, exposed the former deputy director of the Western Ukrainian Specialized Children's Medical Center, Zinovy Ivaskevych, for abuses during the purchase of baby food worth almost UAH 900,000.
As reported on Tuesday, February 3, in the Lviv region prosecutor's office, during the 2020-2022 years, during the Covid-19 pandemic, an official, exceeding his authority, personally signed a number of contracts on behalf of the institution's director. The agreements concerned the purchase of special food products, vital for children with congenital metabolic disorders.
The specified goods were subject to preferential taxation during the pandemic and could be purchased without paying VAT. Despite this, the deputy director concluded agreements in which the cost of the purchased products was burdened with the appropriate tax. As a result, the medical center unjustifiably transferred funds to two suppliers that were not subject to payment.
As a result, the hospital suffered losses of almost UAH 900,000.
The former deputy director of the children's medical center is accused of abuse of office for the purpose of obtaining undue benefit for another legal entity, which led to grave consequences (Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Law enforcement officers are not disclosing more details of the case. According to ZAXID.NET, suspicion was placed on the former deputy director for organizational and methodological work - head of the regional resource methodological and monitoring center of the KNP ENT "Western Ukrainian Specialized Center" Zinovy Ivaskevych.

Assets: in the declaration for 2023, Zinovy Ivaskevych declared: an apartment in the city of Lviv, area 79.5 m², date of acquisition of the right 12/24/1996, a storage room in the basement in the city of Lviv, area 10.8 m², date of acquisition of the right 12/24/1996. He also declared the following income: salary at the main place of work from the KNP of the Lviv Regional Council "Western Ukrainian Specialized Children's Medical Center" in the amount of 304,486 UAH, a pension from the Pension Fund of Ukraine in the amount of 134,017 UAH, his wife's income - a pension from the Pension Fund of Ukraine in the amount of 91,242 UAH, his daughter's income - salary at the main place of work from LLC "Koelner-Ukraine" in the amount of 169,019 UAH. In addition, he declared cash in the amount of UAH 40,000.
Persons who should have reacted: in the case of Ivaskevych, law enforcement officers reacted in a timely manner.
