Case story: On December 4, 2024, law enforcement officers detained the organizer and three accomplices, who are suspected of illegally transporting military conscripts abroad. Local media reported that the detainee was MP and military man Oleksandr Kursyk.
Head of the Communications Sector of the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police of Ukraine, Natalia Kalynovska, told the media that Oleksandr Kursyk was detained together with three accomplices.
They were informed of the suspicion of committing a crime under Part Three of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - illegal smuggling of persons across the state border of Ukraine, committed by an organized group or committed for selfish motives. Also, all of them were chosen as a preventive measure in the form of detention with the right to post bail.
She clarified that the organizer was released on bail of over 1,200,000 hryvnias.
Persons potentially involved in corruption schemes: in addition to Oleksandr Kursyk, two persons are also involved in the scheme, but their names are not publicly available.
Assets: In his 2023 declaration, Kursyk indicated that he owns a land plot in Vinnytsia Oblast and also has the right to use a summer house in the city of Rivne. His wife and two daughters also have the right to use the same house.
Oleksandr Kursyk also owns a Ford Focus (worth 46,700 UAH), and his wife Yevhenia owns a Mercedes-Benz Glk 220 Cdi (worth 220,000 UAH).
Kursyk's income for 2023 was UAH 1,346,868, and his wife's was UAH 337,539.
Oleksandr Kursyk declared UAH 1,200,000 in cash, and his wife Yevhenia declared UAH 300,000.
Persons who should have reacted: law enforcement agencies responded in a timely manner to the criminal activities of Kursyk and his accomplices.
Scandals: Before the corruption scheme, Oleksandr Kursyk was not seen as a figure in other scandals.
