Case story: On June 24, 2026, the SSU detained Oleksandr, the head of the customs clearance department No. 3 of the Horodok customs post of Lviv Customs, for taking a bribe.
As the Lviv Region Prosecutor's Office later reported, the head of the customs clearance department took bribes for the unhindered import of cars from the United States through European Union countries into Ukraine.
The announced tariff was $50 for each car registered at the customs post under his control. However, the price later increased to $60 per car. In case of refusal, he promised to create artificial obstacles during customs clearance of vehicles.
According to the investigation, during the period of May-June of this year, the customs officer helped with the registration of 61 cars, receiving a total of $3,660 in bribes. After receiving the last payment of $2,880, the official was detained by law enforcement officers.
The detainee was informed of suspicion of extortion and receiving unlawful benefit (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
On June 30, the customs officer suspected of bribery was released from pre-trial detention on bail. In a separate ruling, the court suspended Oleksandr Lyaskovets from the position of head of customs clearance department No. 3 of the “Gorodok” customs post of Lviv Customs for a period of two months. The suspect and his defense attorney did not object to the suspension.
The Lychakiv District Court also seized the property of the customs officer and his wife. This includes a three-room apartment, a residential building with an area of 178.4 sq. m in the village of Sknyliv, Lviv District, and a BYD Sea Lion 07 car.
Persons potentially involved in corruption schemes: in this scheme, Oleksandr Lyaskovets acted independently.
Assets: according to the declaration for 2025, Lyaskovets owns an apartment in Kherson, and the family also rents an apartment in Lviv.
The customs officer drives a Toyota RAV4, 2019 model, and a Byd Sea Lion 07, 2025 model, registered to his wife.
He earned over UAH 700,000 in salary at customs for the year, and his wife received over UAH 1.3 million in income from entrepreneurial activities. Oleksandr Lyaskovets also indicated a cash gift of over UAH 1.2 million received by his wife and daughter from his parents.
The customs officer keeps 270 thousand UAH in cash, and his wife keeps 51 thousand dollars and about 420 thousand UAH.
Persons who should have reacted: law enforcement agencies responded in a timely manner to Lyaskovets' criminal activities, presenting him with a suspicion.
Scandals: Before the corruption scheme, he was not seen as a figure in other scandals.
