The plot of the case: on November 27, 2023, the Appellate Chamber of the Higher Anti-Corruption Court left unchanged the verdict acquitting the former head of the Accounting Chamber Roman Maguta, the former director of the Department of Agricultural Industry of the Accounting Chamber Maria Shulezhko, and her nephew Maksym from charges of taking over an office apartment.
In 2016, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, with the approval of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office and the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko, informed Roman Maguta of the suspicion of committing a number of criminal offenses. Roman Maguta is suspected of the fact that Maria Shulezhko, a member of the Accounting Chamber, having privatized housing in Kyiv, asked him to provide official housing in the center of the capital. On March 1, 2017, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau completed a pre-trial investigation into the head of the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine Roman Maguta and member of the Accounting Chamber Maria Shulezhko. According to the investigation, in the period from January 2014 to March 2015, the head of the Accounting Chamber, abusing his official position, acting for the benefit of the chief controller - the director of the Department of Agricultural Industry of the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine Maria Shulezhko, committed deliberate actions by preparing and signing a number of official documents. there was an illegal expropriation of a two-room service apartment in a new building in Kyiv into the private property of her relative. This relative was notified of the suspicion and was wanted for evading the investigation.
On June 9, 1917, the Shevchenkivskiy District Court of Kyiv released Roman Maguta, accused of abuse of power, from house arrest and canceled the suspension from the post of head of the Accounting Chamber.
On April 6, 2023, the High Anti-Corruption Court acquitted the former head of the Accounting Chamber Roman Maguta, ex-director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Accounting Chamber Maria Shulezhko, and her nephew Maksym of charges of taking over an official apartment.
