The plot of the case: at the end of April 2026, the head of the military medical commission was detained in Transcarpathia for falsifying reports for conscripts; during searches, more than 11 million UAH in various currencies were seized from him.

According to the investigation, the official systematically demanded money for the execution of fictitious medical documents in order to obtain a deferral from mobilization.
As reported by the media, this is about Volodymyr Pauk.
The investigation established that he was approached by a conscript who needed to renew his deferral due to health reasons. The suspect suggested using previous medical documents without undergoing an examination and agreed with other members of the commission not to take into account the real state of health.
The cost of this "service" was 6 thousand US dollars, which were planned to be distributed among the participants of the scheme. Law enforcement officers detained the official after issuing a statement of limited fitness.
He was informed of suspicion of obtaining unlawful benefit, committed by a group of persons in prior conspiracy with extortion (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
During searches at the place of work and residence, more than 11 million UAH in various foreign currencies were seized.
In June, it became known that more than 11.3 million hryvnias seized from the former head of the military medical commission in Beregov, Transcarpathian region, Volodymyr Pauk, would be transferred to the ARMA administration.
The court granted the prosecutors' motion to transfer to the National Agency for Tracing and Asset Management funds in the amount of over UAH 11.3 million seized within the framework of criminal proceedings regarding the corruption activities of the former head of the non-staff permanent district military medical commission at the district CCC and SP in the Beregov district of the Zakarpattia region.
According to the investigation, a 60-year-old medical service major demanded $6,000 from a conscript for assistance in passing a military medical examination and obtaining a conclusion on limited fitness for military service.
In particular, the official promised to use previously issued medical documents without conducting proper examinations and to ensure formal confirmation of diagnoses.
Law enforcement officers documented the transfer of part of the illegal gain – 400 US dollars. After issuing the appropriate medical report and transferring the documents to the territorial recruitment center, the person involved was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Pauk is in custody.
During the authorized searches at the suspect's residence, almost 273 thousand hryvnias, over 242 thousand US dollars, more than 3.3 thousand euros and almost 1.3 million Hungarian forints were seized. In hryvnia equivalent, the total amount of seized assets exceeds 11.3 million hryvnias.
Persons potentially involved in corruption schemes: no information is available from open sources about possible accomplices.
Assets: in his 2025 tax return, Pauk indicated that he owns a residential building and a land plot in the village of Bene, and his wife owns another plot.
In addition, Pauk owns a car (VAZ 21074) and a motorcycle, and his wife owns a Skoda Fabia Elegance.
Last year he earned 320,000 hryvnias in salary at Beregov Hospital. He has no other income. His wife Edina also works at Beregov Hospital.
The head of the VLK had 400 thousand hryvnias in cash in 2025.
Persons who should have reacted: law enforcement agencies should have paid attention to Pauk's criminal activities earlier - in particular, employees of the State Bureau of Investigation and the OGPU.
Scandals: Before the corruption scheme, he was not seen as a figure in other scandals.
