The plot of the case: in July in Uzhhorod, the dean of the Faculty of Foreign Philology of the Uzhny National University Mykhailo Roshko, who is suspected of bribery, was detained.
As reported in the Uzhgorod City District Court on July 1, 2024, the 60-year-old dean of the Faculty of Foreign Philology of the Uzhgorod National University is suspected of accepting an offer, promise or receiving an illegal benefit from an official.
According to the investigation materials, Mykhailo Roshko received bribes from students three times.
"On November 29, 2023, the suspect received $1,000 from the husband of one of the university's students for assistance in the successful defense of his thesis. December 11 – 100 euros and 1,000 hryvnias for assistance in closing academic debt and receiving a positive assessment by the student. March 8, 2024 - 110 euros for committing a similar act in relation to another subject," the court informs.
The court took into account the total amount of bribes and the fact that the suspect is a person with a disability, and assigned him a preventive measure in the form of detention with the possibility of bail in the amount of UAH 180,000.
Journalist Vitaly Glagola added that it was recorded how the dean received bribes in the amount of 200 to 1,000 dollars from university students in his office. He systematically demanded and received illegal benefits for solving issues related to positive passing of tests and exams.
"They monitored the dean for several months and recorded the receipt of bribes in his office. Back in April, searches were conducted in the same office, at home as well. And also in the Audi A4 car used by Mykhailo Roshko. During the searches, draft records and a detection device were found." bugs" in the office," the journalist writes.
