The plot of the case: on November 7, 2019, he was exposed "in the heat of the moment" and the next day was informed of suspicion under part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The Summer District Court of Sumy received an administrative report on prosecution of Vitaly Shutka for driving a car while intoxicated.
After that, judge Shershak allegedly asked Shatko for money for not bringing him to justice in this administrative case, as well as in a similar one against him, which should be submitted to his court from the Holosiivsky District Court of Kyiv.
On November 6, according to the investigation, this money was received by the judge. Detectives found $1,700 in Judge Shershak's home, and another $300 during his personal care.
On February 14, 2020, the SAP sent an indictment against Shershak to the court. In September 2024, the anti-corruption court found Judge Shershak guilty of obtaining an illegal benefit. He was sentenced to 7 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The defense filed an appeal against this sentence, however, in October 2024 it became known that the Appeals Chamber left the appeal against the verdict of the Sumy judge motionless.
Subsequently, it became known that the Appeals Chamber of the Higher Anti-Corruption Court scheduled for December 16 the review of the appeal against the verdict, which sentenced Mykola Shershak to 7 years in prison.

Assets: in his 2023 declaration, Shershak listed land plots and residential buildings, as well as two cars: Nissan X-Trail 2.0, 2010, worth UAH 256,000, and KIA Sportage, 2016, worth UAH 556,920. In addition, Shershak declared a UAZ 39099, manufactured in 2000, and a Belarus-112N-01 mini tractor, manufactured in 2019, the cost of which is UAH 116,667.
He also received UAH 806,764 in salary for his main job.
His wife's bank account has UAH 27,609.
