Case story: Law enforcement officers detained the vice-rector of the National Academy of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine named after Bohdan Khmelnytsky, who forced his subordinates to build him a house. The official faces up to 15 years in prison.
According to the investigation, since the beginning of 2024, the vice-rector of the academy involved at least five subordinates in the construction of his own house in Khmelnytskyi. Instead of performing military service, the cadets received payment for working for the suspect. The amount of losses reached at least 400 thousand UAH.
On May 6, SBI officers conducted searches. A large amount of property with the academy's inventory numbers was discovered on the construction site - in particular, beds, air conditioners, heaters, souvenirs, as well as building materials (tiles, laminate) purchased with state budget money.
The official was detained and removed from office. He was charged with abuse of power and misappropriation of military property under martial law (Part 5 of Article 426-1 and Part 4 of Article 410 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The article provides for up to 15 years of imprisonment.
According to Hromadske, citing its own informed source, the detained person is Colonel Petro Tkachuk, Deputy Rector for Material Support of the Bohdan Khmelnytsky National Academy of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Hromadske also reports that bail has already been posted for him.
