Case story: in February 2025, the former head of the administrative and economic department of the main department of the State Treasury Service of Ukraine in the Poltava region was informed of suspicion of entering false information into the declaration.
According to the conclusion of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC), discrepancies in the amount of over 95 million hryvnias were found in Veriga's declaration for 2023. He is charged with intentionally providing knowingly false information under Part 2 of Article 366-2 "Declaring false information." The maximum sanction is 2 years in prison.
In November 2024, law enforcement officers conducted more than 30 searches in the houses, apartments, and premises of Veriga and his relatives. During the investigative actions, awards from the Russian Federation, significant amounts of cash, gold commemorative coins, and precious watches were discovered. The searches were conducted as part of criminal proceedings on the fact of illegal enrichment and legalization of property obtained by criminal means, on a particularly large scale.
According to the Poltava Region Prosecutor's Office, after the searches, the case materials were transferred to the National Anti-Corruption Commission for a full audit of the official's declaration. According to the investigation, Ihor Veryga declared over 2.5 billion hryvnias in cash for 2023, including 63.1 million US dollars and almost 40 million hryvnias in accounts in various banks. This is joint property with his wife.
Persons potentially involved in corruption schemes: Open sources do not reveal any potential accomplices of Veriga.
Assets: in his 2023 tax return, Ihor Veryga declared more than 2.5 billion hryvnias in cash, including 63 million 115 thousand dollars and almost 40 million hryvnias in accounts in various banks. This is joint property with his wife.
Ihor Veryga also declared 275 thousand hryvnias in pension for 2023, 10 thousand in social assistance, 16 thousand in charity, and more than 10 thousand hryvnias in interest received from savings in various banks.
The family owns three cars - a 2008 SEAT "Toledo" worth 141 thousand hryvnias, a 2016 KIA "Niro" worth 693 thousand hryvnias, and a 1976 VAZ 2103.
Among the real estate, the Verigas own two apartments of 54 and 66 square meters with a total value of 790 thousand hryvnias, a summer house with an area of almost 100 square meters - 150 thousand hryvnias. As well as two land plots with a total area of 0.06 hectares.
Persons who should have reacted: law enforcement agencies responded promptly to Igor Veriga's criminal activities, charging him with suspicion.
Scandals: Ihor Veryha was dismissed from his position on October 29, 2024, by agreement of the parties. The State Treasury does not specify whether the dismissal is related to the submitted declaration.
Igor Veryga is the brother of Lev Veryga, a Poltava businessman and son-in-law of Russian general Valery Kapashyn. On the eve of the full-scale Russian armed invasion of Ukraine, Lev Veryga and his wife Oksana left for the aggressor state.
