In April 2024, a man who wanted to leave Ukraine approached Vorona. The official offered to issue disability and prepare all documents for departure for $20,000.
While receiving part of the amount — $5,000 — Vorona was detained by SBU officers.
On October 1, 2024, the October District Court of Poltava imposed a preventive measure on Vorona — detention with the possibility of bail in the amount of 242,000 hryvnias. The prosecutor's office will insist on increasing the bail to UAH 1.5 million, appealing the court's decision in the Poltava Court of Appeal.
During the search, Makarov's pistol was also seized from Roman Vorona.
