Case story: On September 4, 2025, the Izyaslavskyi District Court of Khmelnytskyi Oblast sentenced 59-year-old local deputy and head of one of the freight stations of the regional branch of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, Lyubov Yakobchuk, for bribery. The official demanded $10,000 from a representative of the agricultural company for the extension of the contract for the use of freight cars and the operation of the track. The accused was fined UAH 420,000 for the offense.
As stated in the verdict of September 1, at the time of the crime, Lyubov Yakobchuk was the head of the Shepetivka-Podilska freight railway station of the regional branch of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia. In February 2025, the accused was contacted by a representative of an agricultural company who wanted to obtain permission to attract a larger number of freight cars to transport agricultural products to the Teofipol Sugar Plant.
The official promised to extend the contract for a reward of UAH 180,000, but later increased the bribe to USD 10,000. Lyubov Yakobchuk also demanded payment for the renovation of her office. The accused was detained on March 7 after receiving the entire amount.
During the trial, Lyubov Yakobchuk fully admitted her guilt. It is known that the accused is a deputy of the Shepetivka District Council of the 8th convocation from the political party "For the Future".
Judge Oleksandr Korol found the official guilty of abuse of influence (Part 2, Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and imposed a fine of UAH 420,000, which she must pay within ten months. The decision can still be appealed in the Court of Appeal.
Persons potentially involved in corruption schemes: no information is available from open sources about potential accomplices.
Assets: in the 2025 declaration, Yakobchuk indicated that she owns only one land plot in the village of Bilogorodka.

The official also declared a Chevrolet Malibu car worth UAH 300,000 at the time of purchase.

Yakobchuk's income for 2024 was UAH 282,665. At the same time, she did not declare any monetary assets.

Persons who should have reacted: law enforcement agencies responded to Yakobchuk's criminal activities in a timely manner.
