Case story: On February 14, 2026, it became known that a deputy of the Pochaiv City Council in the Ternopil region was detained in Kyiv, who helped remove a Kyiv resident from the wanted list for a bribe of $10,000. The official also promised to employ him for the sake of booking, the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office reported on Saturday, February 14. From their own sources in law enforcement agencies, ZAXID.NET journalists learned that deputy Valeriy Zinevich was detained.
According to the investigation, the deputy of the Pochaiv City Council, who permanently lived in Kyiv, offered services to remove conscripts from wanted lists. In addition, he offered to employ men at state enterprises in order to receive a reservation from mobilization. The name of the deputy was not specified in the press service of the prosecutor's office.
For such assistance, the man, who permanently resided in the capital, took from 4 to 10 thousand dollars. In particular, the deputy promised his friend, who was wanted, to update his military registration documents in one of the capital's RTCPs without his presence, helped with removal from the wanted list, and later promised assistance in finding a job in a structural unit of one of the ministries with subsequent booking.
The suspected deputy received UAH 77,000 on a credit card for his services. He was detained by law enforcement officers while receiving USD 10,000 from a Kyiv resident.
The deputy of the Pochaiv City Council was informed of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of influence). He faces up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property. The press service of the prosecutor's office reported that the suspect has already been chosen as a preventive measure in the form of detention with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of UAH 506,000.
Persons potentially involved in corruption schemes: no information is available from open sources about possible accomplices.
Assets: in his 2024 tax declaration, Zinevych indicated that he owns an apartment in Kyiv and a land plot in the Kyiv region.
In addition, the deputy declared a Lexus GX470 car worth UAH 510,000.
At the same time, in the income column, he indicated only UAH 93 as an additional benefit.
At the same time, Zinevych indicated UAH 28,000 in cash, USD 3,000, and UAH 1,093 in a bank account as monetary assets. And in 2023, the official did not even declare his income.
Persons who should have reacted: law enforcement agencies responded to Zinevych's criminal activities in a timely manner, presenting him with a suspicion.
Scandals: Before the corruption scheme, he was not seen as a figure in other scandals.
