Case story: SSU and SBI officers detained Bohdan Zinko, a border guard at the Krakivets border control department in the Lviv region, who, according to investigators, organized a channel for draft evaders. The border guard took $30,000 for the departure of one conscript.
As reported on Friday, March 27, by the SSU and the Lviv Oblast State Bureau of Investigation, a senior sergeant of the border service helped evaders escape from Ukraine in exchange for bribes. The cost of such services was $30,000 per client.
It was established that the attacker promised the client unhindered travel to EU countries through one of the checkpoints in the Lviv region. To do this, he had to not enter his data into the automated state border crossing control system.
The border guard was detained after receiving the entire amount of the illegal gain. Investigators informed him of suspicion of illegal border crossing (under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The court will soon choose a preventive measure for him.

Assets: Bohdan Zinko's 2016 declaration states that during the reporting period he received UAH 54,270 in salary at his main place of work in military unit 1494, as well as UAH 31,075 in salary at his main place of work in military unit 2418.
Persons who should have reacted: in the case of Zinko, law enforcement officers reacted in a timely manner.
