Tax official in Sumy caught demanding bribe for licenses

Law enforcement officers caught one of the heads of the Sumy region's tax service taking a bribe.
This was reported on the SSU website.
According to the investigation, the head of the department for control over excisable goods of the Main Department of the State Tax Service in Sumy Region demanded money from entrepreneurs.
Law enforcement officers documented how an official received a bribe from the director of a company engaged in wholesale fuel trade. In exchange for the "reward", the person in question promised to provide licenses for the sale of fuel, the SSU noted.
The official involved an acquaintance of his to contact the entrepreneur and deliver the bribe.
Both defendants are charged under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — accepting an offer, promise, or receiving an illegal benefit by an official. This is punishable by up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The issue of choosing a preventive measure and identifying all persons involved in the corruption scheme is currently being resolved.
Recall, we previously reported that NABU reported suspicions of fraud against a major general of the Ministry of Defense.
