HACC merges cases against ex-Kyiv Council deputy Trubitsyn

The Supreme Court of Justice has decided to merge two cases of former Kyiv City Council member Vladyslav Trubitsyn into one proceeding.
This was reported by the public organization Transparency International Ukraine.
The first case concerns receiving a bribe of UAH 1.39 million for permission to install MAFs. According to the investigation, Trubitsyn acted in collusion with officials of utility companies.
The second case involves extorting $30,000 for assistance in appointing him to the position of deputy, and then director, of the Rye Market enterprise. According to the investigation, he was assisted in this scheme by his assistant Artem Bilynskyi and close associate Ilya Lif.
As noted by Transparency International Ukraine, the Supreme Court of Cassation previously refused to join the cases due to different stages of consideration. However, after the "Zhytniy Rynok" case was transferred to consideration on the merits, the court agreed to join them.
The court ruled that the prosecutor would then read a summary of the indictment, the defense would make opening statements, and then the parties would proceed to examine the evidence.
Vladislav Trubitsyn is a suspect in the EBK database.
Trubitsyn is suspected of organizing a scheme to receive bribes for entrepreneurs' victories in tenders for the establishment of retail outlets in Kyiv. He was declared suspicious back in February 2022, but he remained a deputy and headed the commission on entrepreneurship, industry and urban development.
In the summer of 2023, the HACC arrested Trubitsyn in absentia, who had left abroad in May and not returned. Bail was a preventive measure for him.
