Vinnytsia city council member suspected of bribery

A city council member in Vinnytsia Oblast is suspected of bribery. According to law enforcement, the man was detained while handing him one hundred thousand hryvnias from a businessman from whom he had demanded the money.

According to the investigation, the 44-year-old man demanded a "payment" from the head of the enterprise for failing to take measures at the session regarding his illegal use of land, as well as for further resolving the issue of renting a land plot bordering his enterprise.

After the deputy's detention, he was informed of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 368 (Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an unlawful benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The punishment for such a violation is imprisonment for up to ten years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years, with confiscation of property.

The court chose a preventive measure for the man: during the pre-trial investigation, he will be held in custody, with the possibility of bail.

According to media reports, this is a deputy of the Lypovetsk City Council.

We previously wrote that the acting head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Administrative Organization was exposed in a corruption scheme . The official promised to issue limited fitness certificates to employees of the enterprise whose reservations were not extended or to arrange for them to serve in the rear.

Also recently, the Shevchenko District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv sent charges to the court against the director of the State Enterprise "Production Association "Kyivprylad", his advisor and assistant. They are suspected of alleged bribery.
