NABU reported the exposure of a corruption scheme involving deputies of the Volyn regional and Lutsk city councils.

According to the investigation, the head of one of the parliamentary factions of the Volyn Regional Council, who was previously a People's Deputy, acted in collusion with the head of the same faction in the Lutsk City Council. They demanded a $30,000 bribe from the user of a land plot in Lutsk - also a former People's Deputy.

For this money, they promised to ensure a positive vote by their faction's deputies and the adoption of the "necessary" decisions by the Volyn Regional and Lutsk City Councils to allow the construction of an apartment building on the site.

– NABU explains.

The owner of the plot agreed to the offer, and after the Lutsk City Council adopted a decision to approve the detailed plan of the territory, he handed over part of the bribe in the amount of $15,000 to the deputies. After that, the Volyn Regional Council adopted a decision to change the purpose of the land plot, which allowed it to be built on.

Currently, the deputies have been charged under Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and the bribe-taker has been charged under Part 1 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The issue of choosing a preventive measure for the suspects is being resolved.

We previously reported that the court reduced the bail for businessman Hrynkevich to UAH 34 million.
