The former head of the city council department in the Ternopil region is suspected of demanding a bribe of 500 thousand hryvnias from an entrepreneur.

For this money, the official promised to influence city council officials to prepare documentation and conclude contracts for deforestation and uprooting of plantations on the territory of the community with an area of ​​46 hectares.

The man was detained while receiving part of the funds in the amount of 25,000 hryvnias.

The former head of the city council department is accused of criminal influence under Part 2, Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Investigators under the procedural guidance of the Ternopil Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office referred the proceedings to court.

Earlier, police detained Volodymyr Bayda, the head of the education department of the Yavoriv City Council in the Lviv region, on suspicion of bribery . For a bribe of UAH 800,000, the official promised to ensure victory in a tender for entrepreneurs.

In addition, operatives of the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police detained the Deputy Mayor of Mykolaiv in the Lviv region, Ilya Terekha , and the chief accountant, Ella Kulchytska-Kostyk, on suspicion of bribery .
